Perry County Veterans Project

In 2015, the Lafayette Spring Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, in collaboration with the Perry County Museum, launched a project to collect information and photographs of Perry County veterans from all branches of the military, including the National Guard. The project includes veterans from the founding of the United States to the present, as long as they called Perry County home at some point in their lives.

Initially, organizers estimated 300–500 submissions. However, as volunteers searched old newspapers, scrapbooks, obituaries, and local cemeteries, they uncovered the names of many unsubmitted veterans. What began as a collection of hundreds quickly grew into thousands, surpassing the original goal of publishing a book.

Today, the project is preserved in multiple volumes of binders at the Perry County Library in Tell City. Volunteers are actively working to digitize the profiles for online access.
